PANDEMIC PLANNING
The World Health Organization and federal and provincial governments have identified the potential for an influenza pandemic to occur which could have a catastrophic impact. WorkSafeNB is providing information to workers and employers regarding actions that could be taken in such an event and advising that preventative actions be taken.
The Canadian government (Public Health Canada) and the Province of New Brunswick (Department of Health) are closely monitoring the current H1N1 outbreak, and have developed plans to fulfill their obligations in the event of a pandemic.
Employers and workers are encouraged to develop plans to deal with the possible workplace health and safety issues associated with a pandemic influenza.
