Question
If I have been injured at work, how do I file a claim for workers’ compensation?

Answer
If you have had an accident at work, the claims process begins when you and your employer fill out WorkSafeNB’s Form 67 – Report of Accident or Occupational Disease. This form will automatically act as your WorkSafeNB claims request.


Question
When is an employee entitled to take a break?

Answer
An employer shall allow an employee at least one-half hour for food and rest after each five consecutive hours of work.


Question
Which workplaces need Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC)?

Answer
  • Any workplace that regularly employs 20 or more employees.
  • Project sites on which 30 to 499 or more workers are regularly employed, with a project duration of more than 90 days.
  • Project sites with more than 500 employees working at any time.



Question
Is there a time limit for appeals?

Answer
  • Any decision made on or after June 1, 2001 must be appealed within one year of the decision date. The limitation period of one year may be extended by the Appeals Tribunal.
  • Decisions made before June 1, 2001 will continue to have no time limit.
  • Any decision by the Chief Compliance Officer under the OHS Act must be appealed within seven days.
