ACCIDENT REPORTS

These Accident Reports represent a small sample of some of the serious accidents happening around the province. They include non-specific details from WorkSafeNB’s “Preliminary Accident Notification” documents, which are created when WorkSafeNB is notified of a workplace accident. Accident Reports are made public to New Brunswick’s employers and workers with the hope that the information will help prevent similar accidents from occurring.

Worker was cleaning sawdust beneath the live deck going to turn saws when another worker unlocked the disconnect and turned the chains on. The worker's clothing was caught in the chain, pulling him toward the machine. When the co-worker heard the injured worker screams, he turned off the machine. The injured worker's pants were torn off him, preventing serious injury.



Injury Type: Ammonia inhalation: Worker #1 required CPR and defibrillation on site; Worker #2 required observation; Worker #3 felt burning sensation on arms and underarms and was transported to hospital.
