We expect these regulatory amendments will improve workplace conditions and lead to a strong safe work culture in New Brunswick, resulting in fewer workplace illnesses and injuries. We believe that together, we can make New Brunswick the safest place to work.

WorkSafeNB believes awareness and education are key in achieving healthy and safe workplaces in New Brunswick. Our prevention team is committed to working closely with provincial employers to help them achieve compliance with the newly amended regulations.
During the first six months after the regulations have been amended, our health and safety officers and investigations officers will focus on education and awareness while carrying out their regular activities.

There is no grace period for complaints, work refusals or investigations.

Officers who observe violations will be required to write orders if a workplace party is not compliant with the amended regulations. The officers can still issue administrative penalties for repeat violations, if required.

The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) provides a website that allows users to access CSA standards referenced in federal, provincial and territorial OHS regulations.

Users need to create an account on the CSA Communities website to access the standards.

The site allows users to view and/or purchase CSA standards referenced in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.

As part of phase 2 regulatory change, selection of personal protective equipment shall used CSA standard Z462-15, “Workplace electrical safety” as a guide.  That standard is not available on the free viewer, it can be purchased here: Z462-15 | Product | CSA Group
