News Release Murder-suicide victims not on WorkSafeNB benefits

August 15, 2005

Saint John: The Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (WHSCC) of New Brunswick reports neither Robert Thibodeau nor his wife Denise ever received income stemming from a WHSCC claim.

“Local media outlets have reported that the Thibodeau’s recently suffered a loss of income from the Commission,” says Doug Stanley, President and CEO of the WHSCC.

“There has been some speculation that this financial reversal may have been a factor leading to the unfortunate events of July 19th,” Stanley says. “Our records, however, show neither Robert nor Denise Thibodeau were ever in receipt of WHSCC benefits.”

The Commission extends its sympathies to the family and friends of Robert and Denise Thibodeau, and to the community of Bouctouche.
