Saint John: The WHSCC said today that they asked the Union to go to the Labour and Employment Board to settle their complaints about directions given to designated employees rather than putting pressure on those employees to refuse directions from their managers.
Douglas Stanley, president of WHSCC said today that he received a letter yesterday from the President of CUPE Local 1866 expressing concern over some of the directions being given to designated employees. Designated employees advised managers that they were receiving instructions from their union about what they could and could not do. Management advised the President of CUPE Local 1866 that there was a process available for the Union to resolve any disagreements over directions given to designated employees, and that WHSCC hoped they would use that process rather than put the employees in this difficult position. WHSCC said today they are pleased that the Labour and Employment Board will resolve this issue at a hearing today.
