News Release WorkSafeNB investigates fatality – Eric Labrie

Saint John: Health and Safety Officers from the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (WHSCC) are currently investigating a workplace accident that resulted in the death of a 40-year old man.

Eric Labrie was working as a labourer for Génétiporc Inc., in Woodstock, when co-workers found him collapsed, without vital signs, on the evening of Thursday, November 16th. Autopsy results have confirmed that Labrie died after receiving a sustained low-voltage electrical contact.

WHSCC Officers were dispatched to the scene as soon as the accident was reported. Orders have been written under the authority of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and an investigation is ongoing. Officers will focus on the electrical components in the building, the equipment in use at the time of the accident, and the working procedures currently in place at the jobsite.
