Saint John: THE WHSCC is investigating a workplace accident at Hanson Stream, near Lepreau, on December 11 that claimed the life of a 47-year old Nova Scotian man. Paul Crocker died of extensive internal injuries when a section of crane he was dismantling fell on top of him.
Preliminary findings indicate that the accident may have been caused because the bottom section of the crane was not properly secured during dismantlement.
Crocker worked for Waterworks, a Nova Scotian company contracted by NB Power. The crane was owned by Waterworks.
The ongoing investigation will determine the exact cause of the accident, and whether there were violations to the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The WHSCC investigation will also result in recommendations to prevent such a tragedy from recurring
