Saint John: THE WHSCC is investigating a workplace accident that claimed the life of a 51-year old man from McAdam.
Robert MacKay, the owner/operator of MacKay Garage Ltd., died when the truck he was working on fell on top of him. The truck, which had its wheels off, was being supported on two hydraulic jacks only. It is suspected that one of the jacks failed, causing the truck to fall.
An investigation is ongoing to verify the cause of the accident and make any recommendations to prevent such a tragedy from recurring. The investigation will also determine whether there were violations to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
