News Release Stakeholder Report released One worker killed, three others injured

July 19, 2007

Saint John, NB: The Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (WHSCC) released its 2006 Report to Stakeholders today, a report that highlights another solid year for the Commission.

“This report outlines our goals, the measures we’ve set to achieve them, and our results,” said Doug Stanley, president of the WHSCC. “And we’re very proud of those results, which include the second lowest accident frequency rate on record, a reduced assessment rate and a fully-funded liability. But this report measures our success beyond just the numbers – it tells the stories behind the numbers. It tells the stories of what we’re doing through prevention and education in the areas of safety, return to work, service, efficiency and staff satisfaction,” Stanley said.

“While we are proud of this work, however, we know there’s so much more to do. One workplace fatality, one injury, is one too many,” he said. “We are committed to substantially reducing workplace injuries and to work diligently to improve our services to our stakeholders.”
