News Release WorkSafeNB Investigates death of logger – Stanley English

Saint John, NB: The Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (WHSCC) is investigating a logging accident in Canterbury that claimed the life of a 46-year-old man.

On Saturday, September 20, Stanley English was cutting a tree when a dead limb caught in the tree’s branches, fell and struck him on the head. He was brought to Upper River Valley Hospital, but immediately transferred to the Saint John Regional Hospital. He died later in the evening from head trauma.

WHSCC officers are still investigating to determine whether there were violations to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and to make recommendations to prevent such a tragedy from recurring.
