WorkSafeNB is excited to continue the Lost Youth Tour this fall with an additional speaker. On September 27, Jonathan Plante, a young francophone injured worker from Quebec, will kickoff the tour by sharing his story in French high schools and community colleges throughout New Brunswick. In 2007, Plante was working at a construction site when he fell three stories and fractured his spine, leaving him confined to a wheelchair.
The Lost Youth Tour, launched in 2009, is a significant, province-wide tour created to raise awareness and educate New Brunswickers on the importance of workplace safety training for young and new workers, the most vulnerable to injury. The goal of the tour is to help WorkSafeNB reduce the number of young workers hurt on the job. Last year, the Lost Youth Tour lasted three weeks and reached nearly 12,000 people.
This year, following Plante’s week-long tour of francophone New Brunswick, Nick Perry will rejoin the tour. Perry broke his back in a forklift accident when he was only 19. Following his injury, he was featured in British Columbia’s Lost Youth DVD and last year he launched the Lost Youth Tour in New Brunswick.
WorkSafeNB, along with the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour and the Department of Education, are proud to support the Lost Youth Tour and are excited to introduce you to Jonathan Plante and Nick Perry. For tour dates, please visit WorkSafeNB’s website.
