WorkSafeNB is investigating a workplace fatality that claimed the life yesterday of 44-year-old Leonard Allan Deveau, of Quispamsis.
Deveau, a maintenance supervisor with MacDonald Applicators Ltd., was with a crew of workers, using a boom truck to load a 1-ton metal drum suspended by a sling. As the sling was raised, the drum slipped out of the sling and choker and struck Deveau, who was beneath the suspended load.
WorkSafeNB health and safety officers are investigating to determine how the accident could have been prevented and whether there were violations to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
