Announcement Vaping is no longer recommended

December 9, 2019

Following a report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and information from the New Brunswick Chief Medical Officer, vaping is no longer recommended. These recommendations stem from recent concerns of lung injury associated with using e-cigarette, or vaping products. While the investigation is ongoing, the recommendation is to refrain from using e-cigarette, or vaping products, particularly those containing THC.

In light of these recommendations, Policy 25-015 Medical Aid – Cannabis for Medical Purposes is being updated to exclude vaping as a delivery method.

As a result, WorkSafeNB will no longer approve payment for vaping products. WorkSafeNB will continue to determine when cannabis for medical purposes will be authorized as a treatment for workplace injuries or occupational diseases.

The public can view all WorkSafeNB policies online, including, Policy 25-015 Medical Aid – Cannabis for Medical Purposes.
