General Regulation 91-191 is undergoing numerous legislative changes in 2022 and 2023 that will enhance health and safety in New Brunswick workplaces. We are pleased to share that the amendments from the Phase II review are now in effect, impacting the following areas:

Confined space

Lockout for piping

Critical lifts

Hoisting apparatus standards updates

Laboratory safety

Electrical safety

Hot tapping

Pedestrian safety (near forklifts)

You can stay up to date by clicking the New regulatory changes button on the front page of the website, which will bring you to our hub focused on these changes. We are working hard at updating and creating new resources to help workplaces comply with the amendments.

Stay tuned for the Phase III public review, which will launch in March.
