News Release New WorkSafeNB Scholarship Supports Students and Safer Workplaces in New Brunswick

September 25, 2025

WorkSafeNB is launching a new scholarship program that invests in New Brunswick students while advancing a safer future for workers and workplaces across the province. The WorkSafeNB Future of Safety Scholarship will help students pursue their education in any field, and inspire them to play a role in preventing workplace injuries or supporting recovery when they occur.

Made possible through the historic WorkSafeNB Performance Refund returned to eligible New Brunswick employers in 2024, including WorkSafeNB, the scholarship reflects a commitment to reinvesting in the province’s people, communities, and the future workforce.

“We believe everyone, in any career, can play a part in making New Brunswick the safest place to work,” said Tim Petersen, CEO of WorkSafeNB. “This scholarship is one way we can support our next generation of leaders who share that vision- whether by preventing injuries or advancing recovery.

The WorkSafeNB Future of Safety Scholarship offers up to four one-time awards of $2,500 to NB residents entering post-secondary education at any recognized Canadian institution. Applicants will be asked to reflect on how their future career can contribute to advancing workplace health and safety or supporting return-to-work initiatives in New Brunswick.
