A Message from WorkSafeNB’s President and CEO

Working Together to Make New Brunswick the Safest Place to Work

Saint John, N.B. – WorkSafeNB is proud to support Safety and Health Week, taking place May 5–10, 2025. The week serves as a national reminder of the importance of preventing injury and illness both in the workplace and beyond.

“WorkSafeNB’s vision is clear: to make New Brunswick the safest place to work,” said Tim Petersen, President and CEO of WorkSafeNB. “Safety and Health Week is an opportunity to reflect on why that vision matters—not just for workers, but for their families, their communities, and the province as a whole.”

WorkSafeNB emphasizes that every injury prevented and every illness avoided is a shared success. But safety doesn’t happen by chance. It happens when employers and workers alike choose to care, speak up, and lead by example.

“Safety is more than a policy or a checklist—it’s a culture and a shared responsibility,” Petersen said. “When someone is hurt on the job, the impact extends far beyond the individual. That’s why we encourage everyone to champion safe practices and look out for one another.”

WorkSafeNB  encourages workplaces across the province to take part in activities that promote awareness, education, and leadership in health and safety.
