WorkSafeNB announced the 2025 Safety Star Award recipients at their Health and Safety Conference held in Fredericton. The Safety Star recognizes individuals and organizations who are leaders in creating healthy and safe workplaces across New Brunswick.
The 2025 Safety Star recipients are:
Presented annually, the Safety Star Awards recognize exceptional commitment, leadership and innovation in workplace health and safety across the province.
“Today we celebrate leaders who are shaping safer workplaces and inspiring others to follow their example. Their efforts reduce risks on the job and build a culture where every worker knows their health and safety matters,” said Tim Petersen, President and CEO of WorkSafeNB. “Together, with these safety leaders, we’re making New Brunswick the safest place to work, and that’s something we can all take pride in.”
Keri Flowers, Richwil Truck Centre Ltd.
“An excellent safety culture means that in the workplace, people have your back,” said Keri Flowers, Health & Safety Coordinator at Richwil Truck Centre Ltd. “Everyone is doing their job, they know the hazards and they’re not only working safely for themselves, but they’re working safely for everyone around them.”
Bruno Gagné, Workplace Safety School of NB Inc.
“A safety mindset has to be with you every second, every minute, every hour of the day, at your workplace and outside of work. As soon as everyone is involved and your safety program is in place, it will protect people,” Bruno Gagné, CEO and Instructor at Workplace Safety School of NB Inc.
Iron Maple Constructors Inc.
“We want our employees to come and leave our jobsites just as safe and healthy as when they arrive in the morning,” said Durk DeWinter, President and Co-Founder of Iron Maple Constructors Inc.
“To me, an excellent safety culture means walking the walk and not just talking the talk,” said Chad Tupper, Safety Manager at Iron Maple Constructors Inc.
“The award is an award for the whole company, from the management group down to the carpenters on the jobsite,” said Earl Affleck, Safety Manager at Iron Maple Constructors Inc.

“I’m passionate about health and safety because of success,” said Jospeh Fudge, District Manager at GFL Environmental Services Inc. “To be the full package with the business that we’re in, you have the equipment and the tools, but you have success because you have safety that’s incorporated with that.”
