Gold award from OHS Canada recognizes efforts to build psychological health and safety into workplace culture
WorkSafeNB has received Gold in the Psychologically Safe Workplace Award category from OHS Canada, recognizing the organization’s leadership in making psychological health and safety part of its overall approach to workplace safety.
The OHS Canada Awards celebrate organizations that are taking meaningful steps to create safer workplaces.
“This recognition belongs to our people,” said Laragh Dooley, vice-president of People and Culture. “Our employees continue to build a culture where people feel supported, included and safe to speak up. This work is an important part of creating a psychologically healthy and safe workplace.
WorkSafeNB has integrated psychological health and safety across the organization through leadership development, employee engagement, mental health supports and day-to-day practices that help prevent psychological harm.
“We are proud of this award, and especially proud of what it represents,” said Tim Petersen, president and CEO. “Psychological health and safety is occupational health and safety. It is part of how we protect workers, support our teams and build a stronger workplace safety culture.”
WorkSafeNB is also applying what it has learned through its own journey to help employers across New Brunswick strengthen psychological health and safety in their workplaces. Through consultation, education and prevention efforts, WorkSafeNB helps employers identify psychosocial hazards and take steps to prevent psychological harm and build psychologically healthy and safe workplaces.
For workers who experience traumatic psychological injuries, WorkSafeNB’s claims and rehabilitation teams provide the care and resources needed to recover and safely return to work.
This national recognition reinforces WorkSafeNB’s commitment to making psychological health and safety a key part of workplace safety and advancing its vision of making New Brunswick the safest place to work.
