WorkSafeNB is launching PlaySafeNB, a new grant program that helps youth sports organizations across New Brunswick make sport safer for every player. Eligible organizations can apply for up to $5,000 to support projects that strengthen physical and psychological safety in sport. A total of $30,000 in funding is available for 2026.
“Sport builds skills for life including teamwork, resilience and confidence. Through PlaySafeNB, WorkSafeNB is investing in the people and programs that keep young New Brunswickers safe so they can thrive, on and off the field,” said Tim Petersen, President and CEO of WorkSafeNB. “By supporting youth sports organizations, we’re helping youth in our province grow up with a strong safety mindset that will benefit them for life.”
The PlaySafeNB grant was funded through the WorkSafeNB Performance Refund, that as a New Brunswick employer, WorkSafeNB received. WorkSafeNB staff decided to use their refund to establish a grant that reflects a commitment to Making New Brunswick the Safest Place to Work.
