News Release WorkSafeNB launches PlaySafeNB grant to help youth sports make safety a team goal

WorkSafeNB is launchingPlaySafeNB, a new grant program that helps youth sports organizations across New Brunswick make sport safer for every player. Eligible organizations can apply forup to $5,000to support projects that strengthen physical and psychological safety in sport. A total of$30,000in funding is available for 2026. 

“Sport builds skills for life including teamwork,resilienceand confidence. ThroughPlaySafeNB,WorkSafeNB isinvesting in the people and programs that keep young New Brunswickers safe so they can thrive, on and off the field,” saidTim Petersen, PresidentandCEOof WorkSafeNB.By supporting youth sports organizations, were helping youth in our province grow up with a strong safety mindset that will benefit them for life.   

ThePlaySafeNBgrant was fundedthroughtheWorkSafeNB PerformanceRefund,that as a New Brunswick employer, WorkSafeNB received. WorkSafeNB staff decidedto use their refund toestablishagrantthatreflectsacommitment to Making New Brunswick the Safest Place to Work.   
 

Who can apply: 
PlaySafeNBis open to New Brunswick youth sports organizations serving those under 18 that are incorporated as not-for-profits and affiliated with their provincial sport organization.

What WorkSafeNB funds: 
 Projects must address physical and/or psychological safety hazards in sport.Note: Travel isnoteligible.
