May 7, 2026

WorkSafeNB is proud to announce Atlantic Business Magazine has recognized President and CEO Tim Petersen as one of its Top 50 CEOs for the second consecutive year, at an awards ceremony in Moncton on May, 7, 2026.

The Top 50 CEO Awards celebrate accomplished, forward-thinking and community-minded executives in Atlantic Canada. First introduced in 1999, the awards have grown to a highly regarded recognition of leadership excellence across Atlantic Canada.

Petersen leads WorkSafeNB with a clear vision of making New Brunswick the safest place to work. Since becoming President and CEO in 2022, he has championed a people-first culture focused on employee-chosen values of accountability, collaboration, and trust.

Petersen continues to advance workplace health and safety through innovation, modern prevention approaches, and strong partnerships with workers and employers across the province. His commitment to continuous improvement has supported safer workplaces, stronger organizational performance, and meaningful return to work programs, reinforcing WorkSafeNB’s role as a leader in health and safety.

Among the achievements under his tenure:

  • Exceptional employee engagement scores
  • Strong financial performance resulting in record low assessment rates for employers and a WorkSafeNB Performance Refund retuning over $230 million back to New Brunswick businesses.
  • Improved benefits for injured workers and their families
  • Modernized digital systems across core business areas
  • A continued focus on mental health, prevention, and safe return-to-work supports

“This recognition is truly about the dedicated people I work with everyday who make me a better leader,” said Petersen. “Thank you to my colleagues and our partners across the province working to make New Brunswick the safest place to work.”

The May issue of Atlantic Business Magazine featuring Petersen and the other Top 50 recipients is now available in print and online.
