News Release WorkSafeNB promotes Electronic E67 as the preferred way to start a claim

April 23, 2026

WorkSafeNB is adopting the electronic Worker’s Application for Compensation Benefits and Employer’s Report of Injury or Illness (E67) as the preferred method for submitting claims.

Submitting claims online helps ensure complete and accurate information is received sooner, supporting timely adjudication and faster access to benefit payments for injured workers.

Why Adopt the Electronic E67?

When a workplace injury occurs, employers and workers both play an important role in starting the claim process. Employers report the injury through the Employer’s Report of Injury or Illness (E67), while workers submit an Application for Compensation Benefits. Submitting these forms electronically helps ensure required information is received earlier and more consistently, and with greater accuracy leading to faster decisions and quicker access to benefits

By enhancing and promoting the electronic E67, WorkSafeNB aims to:

  • Improve injury reporting and benefits applications by receiving required information earlier and more consistently
  • Reduce delays of decisions and benefit payments
  • Clarify worker and employer responsibilities
  • Strengthen tools that support timely adjudication and benefit delivery

Benefits for Workers and Employers

For injured workers timely benefit payments help reduce financial stress, allowing them to focus on recovery and a safe return to work.

Submitting the E67 electronically will reduce administrative back-and-forth and support faster claim decisions. Receiving complete information earlier allows WorkSafeNB to begin the adjudication process sooner, helping employers gain clarity on the claim and begin planning for workplace coverage and safe return-to-work arrangements. For employers, supporting early and accurate reporting also helps ensure injured workers receive timely support and can begin their recovery sooner. For many workplaces, helping an employee recover and return safely to work is important for both worker well-being and ongoing operations.
