Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions necessary to reduce risk, workplaces will not be the same as we left them and we will need to adjust. And while we all try to establish a new normal at our workplaces, there will certainly be an added layer of health and safety measures (physical distancing, screening, handwashing, etc.) required to ensure the safety of our workers, our customers and our visitors.
At all times, WorkSafeNB is committed to excellent service delivery. And we’ve never been more focused on that priority than we are now, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We chatted with our very own Dr. Atkinson about the COVID-19 pandemic. He shares some important information on how to stay safe and calm during these unknown times.
WorkSafeNB encourages all New Brunswick workplaces to follow the advice of the Public Health of Canada and the Government of New Brunswick related to offering essential services, self-isolation, travel, and avoiding workplaces if symptomatic.
New COVID-19 prevention tool for workplaces
We are currently experiencing unprecedented times. Virtually every part of daily life is being upended or disrupted in some way.
We acknowledge and applaud the decisive action taken by the Government of New Brunswick to limit the spread of COVID-19 such as declaring a state of emergency and offering leadership related to essential services, self-isolation, travel, and avoiding workplaces if symptomatic. Together, we can flatten the curve.
WorkSafeNB is committed to doing our part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus).
We understand the widespread and valid concern of New Brunswickers as we face the global pandemic of COVID-19. We all have a role to play in stopping the spread of infection. As a workplace, WorkSafeNB has precautionary measures in place at all our offices and our rehabilitation centre to protect our staff and visitors and ensure the continuity of critical services. We remind employers of their own obligations to do the same and recommend implementing an infection prevention and control plan.
As workplaces try to prevent the spread of COVID-19, employees may find themselves unconventionally working from home.
