News Release WorkSafeNB proud to support inaugural first responder mental health conference

WorkSafeNB is proud to sponsor the first-ever Atlantic Conference for First Responder Mental Health, taking place June 2 and 3, 2025, at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Beauséjour in Moncton. 

This event is the first of its kind in Atlantic Canada. First responders play a vital role in protecting our communities, often facing high-stress and traumatic situations that can significantly impact their mental health. WorkSafeNB believes workplace health and safety isn’t just about preventing physical injuries – it’s about protecting the whole person, including their psychological well-being.  

“Everyone has the right to feel safe at work,” said Tim Petersen. “Thriving workplaces prioritize psychological health and safety, and we are proud to support initiatives like this conference that help foster stronger, safer and more resilient work environments —especially for those who put themselves at risk to protect others.” 

WorkSafeNB  provides compensation benefits and supports recovery when workers are injured or become ill on the job, including for traumatic psychological injuries. 

WorkSafeNB aims to strengthen mental health in New Brunswick workplaces with programs such as SUCCEED  which enables workers with accepted traumatic psychological injury (TPI) claims to receive timely access to care and support when they need it mostThe psychological health and safety consultation services help employers build tailored PHS practices, including identifying psychosocial risks and implementing proactive measures to mitigate TPIs.
