As vice-president of Prevention, Richard leads the division to deliver services such as health and safety consultation, inspections and investigations, with the goal of making New Brunswick’s workplaces safer by improving safety culture and preventing occupational illnesses and injuries. Richard and his team collaborate with government to develop new occupational health and safety legislation or amend current legislation, which WorkSafeNB oversees once enacted.
Before his appointment as vice-president of Prevention in 2022, Richard served as director of Compliance and Regulatory Review, the role he took on when he joined WorkSafeNB in 1996.
Richard’s education includes an honours degree in chemistry from the University of Ottawa, a master’s of engineering in industrial hygiene, and a certificate in occupational health and safety from Algonquin College.
He is certified as an industrial hygienist with both the American Board of Industrial Hygienists and the Canadian Registered Board of Occupational Hygienists.
Richard holds an unwavering passion for occupational health and safety and has participated in several health and safety conferences, committees and boards, both nationally and internationally.
Richard lives in Rothesay with his spouse and their pug, Yoda, and cat, Dennis.
