Back injuries

Back injuries account for about a 25%* of all WorkSafeNB lost-time claims.

Simple treatment, such as regular exercise and physiotherapy, will often help a worker safely return to work. A short course of painkillers such as Acetaminophen and anti-inflammatories such as Ibuprofen or Naproxen may help. Surgery is rarely needed to treat back injury.

WorkSafeNB offers a back management program to relieve pain and restore mobility and function. Support may include referrals to resources, such as physiotherapy and chiropractic medicine.
